The Unauthorized Hallmark(ish) Parody Musical Ferguson Hall - The Straz Center Theatre reviews
A Night of Contemporary Jazz Excellence!
I attended my very first The Unauthorized Hallmark(ish) Parody Musical concert. In my opinion, the concert overall was pretty spectacular. I will preface my opinion with this--I agree, to an extent, with the sentiments of others who attended the concert. Her voice is phenomenal and soothing. Her band is so sultry. She did give many solo opportunities to her band, but they were so good that I didn't mind. Her diction and pronunciation of words is crystal clear. I saw her playing at the piano, but I don't know if the piano wasn't miked up properly or something. The piano was kind of hard to hear when all of them were playing together. A lot of members of the audience have commented on The Unauthorized Hallmark(ish) Parody Musical seeming disinterested or distracted, by the reviews that I read. She did admit to openly having trouble completing her comments; even forgetting some lyrics and openly playing a strange piano chord or two. Sometimes I begin to speak in conversation and then, poof. I'm a performer myself. It's gone. When you're in that moment, it happens. I don't know. Perhaps she isn't a great speaker? As imperfect as she was in some aspects, her voice was on point. That's why I went to go see her. She came across my Pandora station a while back and I loved her voice and delivery. She exceeded my expectations in that department.
